Lernio Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
Lernio is a study app for children and teenagers with an AI study coach, and a parental phone control for their parents. Lernio is published by Asya-AA ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data Lernio processes, why, and what choices you have.
Who sets up Lernio
Lernio is set up by a parent or legal guardian on their own phone. A child's phone is linked to the family only with a one-time code created by the parent. We do not knowingly let children create an account on their own.
What data we process
On the parent's phone
- Account: a Google account (email and name) or an anonymous account created by Firebase Authentication.
- Subscription status from Google Play (processed by Google Play and RevenueCat; we never see card details).
- A notification token, so we can send alerts to the parent.
About the child (entered by the parent)
- A nickname (not the real name is fine), age range, country, school system, grade and app language.
- Family rules such as the daily study goal and free-time rewards. The parent PIN stays on the device and is never uploaded.
Study activity
- Study sessions (topic, planned and focused minutes, whether it was finished, reasons for leaving early), mini-quiz results, topic progress and the child's daily energy check.
- This is used for the child's plan and the parent's weekly summary.
AI study coach
- The child's questions (typed or spoken) and the coach's answers are sent to our server and to Google Vertex AI (Gemini, EU region first) to create the answer. If Google is unavailable, Anthropic (Claude) may be used as a fallback.
- Voice questions are sent as audio only to create the answer and are not stored.
- We do not store the conversations. If the coach notices that the child says they are sad or in danger, we send the parent a short alert without the content of the conversation.
- If a user reports a coach answer, we store that answer, the question before it, the reason and the language, so we can review and improve the coach.
- Safety filters block inappropriate questions and answers.
Parental phone control (child's phone, only when the parent turns it on)
- Device model, whether the phone is online, battery-saver and permission status, lock state.
- Screen time today and the most-used apps with minutes (from Android's usage access), and the list of installed apps so the parent can block apps or set daily limits.
- Events: a blocked attempt to remove Lernio, a daily app limit reached, the phone being offline for a long time.
What we do not collect
- No messages, contacts, photos, browsing history or location.
- No advertising, no advertising ID, no selling or sharing of data for advertising.
Why we use data (legal basis)
- To provide the app you asked for (contract): accounts, sync between family phones, study plan, coach, parental control, subscriptions.
- To keep children safe and prevent abuse (legitimate interest and legal obligations): safety filters, reports, parent alerts.
- For a child, the parent or guardian gives consent when setting up Lernio and can withdraw it at any time by deleting the account.
Where data is stored and who processes it
- Google Firebase (Firestore database in the EU, europe-west1 Cloud Functions), Google Vertex AI, Google Play and Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- RevenueCat, for subscription status.
- Anthropic, only as an AI fallback.
These providers process data on our behalf under their data processing terms. Some may process data outside your country; where required, standard contractual clauses apply.
How long we keep data
- Family and study data: while the account exists.
- Reported coach answers: up to 12 months.
- When the account is deleted, the family's data is deleted from our servers within 30 days (backups included).
Your choices and rights
- The parent can see the child's summary, change rules, unlink a phone and turn off parental control at any time.
- Delete account: in the app, Account and subscription › Delete account and data. This deletes the family, linked phones and all study data. You can also ask us by email (see below).
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or COPPA), you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data and to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Lernio is designed for families. Children use it only after a parent sets it up. We collect only what the app needs, no advertising, and the child's conversations with the coach are not stored.
Security
Data is sent encrypted (HTTPS). Access to family data is limited to the family's own phones by security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
